Plans are afoot to change a few things with the imageboard layout, if just to avoid the “IE floats bug” by removing the sidebar. I was convinced to try it when I discovered that drop-down menus could be implimented without Javascript! :-)
(This is a rough attempt, so the balance, gradients, etc., are all out of whack. I’ll threaten you with Crème Brules if this is mentioned. :-P)
Update 10-Dec: being worked on now, however it’s not working for IE or Safari… It works perfectly in the all Mozilla/Gecko-based browsers…
Update 13-Dec: How the narrow width screens/browers should look like, give-or-take the anti-aliased fonts. Having the One True Fixed Layout has never been a good idea, so I’ve tried to allow things to ‘degrade’ in a controlled manner; intentionally allowing words and images to wrap around underneath.
I’ve decided that I don’t like floating images to the right. Having the images on the left avoids having a large empty space where people’s eyes go to find the next article.
Update: 14-Dec: That should be the layout ironed out now, including IE. The IE-related problem before came from Wordpress throwing in some extra <li>’s into the generated webpage without telling anyone…
Remaining issues: lack of menu background in Safari, menus in IE untested, not enough space between “Comments” and “<<previous” at the bottom
